Delivering Results for Our City

What Your Lib Dem City Councillors Have Achieved for Salisbury
Salisbury deserves a council that works for its residents. Your Liberal Democrat City Councillors are committed to making Salisbury greener, more financially responsible, and more transparent. Unlike the previous Conservative administration, we believe in open decision-making and strong community support. Discover how we're creating a Salisbury that we can all be proud of.
๐ณ Protecting Our Environment
City-wide Recycling Expansion. We introduced recycling bins across Salisbury, making it easier for residents to go green.
Switch to Cleaner, Greener Equipment. We've replaced outdated petrol and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment with environmentally friendly electric alternatives.
Cutting Harmful Chemicals. We banned the use of cancer-linked Glyphosate herbicide in all but the most exceptional cases. Sadly, Wiltshire Council continues to use it on our streets.
Supported funding to the Broken Bridges Nature Reserve. Lib Dem councillors voted to give funding, received from s106 developer contributions, to the Broken Bridges Nature Reserve, which will enable the campaign to purchase over 14 hectares of land as a nature reserve and public amenity for all to enjoy for generations to come.
๐ท Protecting Your Money
Smart Investments for Long-Term Savings. We secured funding for a new council depot, slashing future rental costs and ensuring better facilities for our teams.
Bringing Services Back Under Local Control. We took full control of grounds services, ending an inefficient half-public, half-private system. The council now has greater control of road sweeping and grass cutting for example and can prioritise work.
๐ถ More efficient management of resources.
๐ถ Better coordination & control.
๐ถ New revenue opportunities as we now have the ability to sell services to other parishes and developments.
๐ Open and Accountable
Under the last Conservative administration, many decisions were made in secret, with opposition councillors even barred from sitting on one of their Working Groups.
These Conservative โbehind closed doorsโ Working Groups operated without public scrutiny, limiting transparency and accountability.
To put an end to this, we reorganised the council into an open committee system, ensuring all decisions are now made in public. As a result, the council is fairer, more transparent, and fully open to scrutiny.
๐ญ Preserving Our Heritage & Supporting Our Community
Backing Culture & Community Groups. We've continued strong financial support for:
๐ถ Wiltshire Creative
๐ถ Salisbury Museum
๐ถ The Scouts
๐ถ The disabled community
๐ถ Ukrainian refugees
Salisbury Conservatives voted against supporting these vital groups โ we stood up for them.
